These are drawings on paper of my family and friends. Some of the images begin with a curated photo shoot. In some cases, I use old photos, scanning the images to enlarge them (ranging from 3’ up to life size). By removing back ground context, I aim to capture the emotional essence of my subjects by giving focus to the physical gesture. By enlarging the portraits, in some cases making them “life size”, it brings a presence to the subjects, putting them in the room with me. This is the most wonderful experience, especially with the images of those who are no longer with us.
